Manuel Scheiwiller (*1984) works as an artist and freelance curator in Zurich. He studied at the Rotterdam Dance Academy, the Amsterdam Theater School, the School of Visual Theater in Jerusalem, the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Manuel Scheiwiller is the initiator and editor-in-chief of Contemporarycruisin.com, an online magazine and archive documenting performances that collaborated with institutions such as Residency unlimited in New York City, Centre Culturel Suisse in Paris, Berliner Festspiele and Les Urbaines in Lausanne. In 2012 he received the Swiss Performance Award. In 2014 he was nominated for the Swiss art awards in the art education department. In 2016 he curated the performance program of Manifesta, The European Biennial of Contemporary Art at the Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich. Manuel Scheiwiller is co-author of Body+Freedom a performance presented at Berliner Festspiele, Liste Basel, Impuls Tanz Festival Wien, Arsenic Lausanne and Tanzhaus Zürich 2015. With his latest collective, Young Boy dancing group he had presentations at the Venice Biennale in the Lithuanian Pavilion, Silencio Paris, Baltic Triennale in Tallinn, the Music Festival Roskilde in Denmark and this October at the Athens Biennale in Greece. Most recently they have toured on two European tours with Yvonne Lambert, Berlin, Kunstraum London, Queer Porto International Film Festival, Teatro Praga, Lisabon, Caffe Oto, London, Chart Art Fair Copenhagen, Creepy Teepy Festival, Czech Republic, Norberg Festival, Sweden and Sorbus in Helsinki.
