BI-dimensional weaving

This workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of two-dimensional weaving through an intuitive and hands-on approach. Working around wooden or metal sticks arranged in radial structures, participants will learn how to build woven compositions by interlacing warp and weft with a variety of fibres and materials.

The workshop begins with simple eight-spoke structures, allowing participants to understand the basic principles of radial weaving before progressing to more complex sixteen-spoke frameworks, opening up new possibilities for pattern, texture, and composition.

Using cotton and wool yarns, recycled textiles, natural fibres, and mixed materials, each participant will create a unique woven artwork while exploring colour, rhythm, and materiality through a slow and meditative making process.

Participants will learn:

• How to construct radial weaving structures using wooden or metal sticks
• The fundamentals of warp and weft weaving
• How to weave on 8-spoke and 16-spoke frameworks
• Techniques for creating texture, pattern, and colour compositions
• How to combine different fibres, textiles, and natural materials into a finished woven artwork

No previous weaving experience is required, the course will be held in German and/or English
